Maximum Maui Fishing Fun
Action Sportfishing is a 35-foot Cabo vessel, owned and operated by one of Maui’s most seasoned fishing captains. Departing from Ma‘alaea Harbor, she offers a great balance of comfort and performance. Onboard, you’ll find a spacious bridge, ample seating in the cabin, and a clean, modern restroom. Outfitted with outriggers, GPS, sonar, and a variety of rods and reels—from light tackle (25s) to heavy-duty gear (80s)—Action is ready for any fishing challenge. The boat accommodates up to six passengers, with regular departures between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m., every day of the week.
FULL-DAY (8-hour) Sportfishing Charters
Our 8-hour excursions are designed for serious sport fishing, venturing farther offshore in pursuit of mahi mahi (also known as dorado), ono (wahoo), yellowfin tuna (ahi), and marlin. Private charters can be tailored to include inshore fishing if desired. Weather permitting, your trip may include stops at one or more of Maui’s Fish Aggregation Devices (FADs), known hotspots for attracting large schools of fish.

3/4 DAY (6-hour) Sportfishing and Combo Fishing Charters
Action Sportfishing’s 6-hour private charters offer a more diverse fishing experience than your typical half-day Maui trip. These outings often mix inshore light-tackle fishing with offshore trolling, giving anglers a broader range of action. Fall and winter are prime seasons for this type of trip, as fish activity tends to shift between nearshore and offshore waters—but spring and summer can still deliver great results. Techniques may include live bait, cut bait, jigging, and the use of artificial lures. Depending on the time of year, you might be targeting hard-fighting reef predators like uku (gray snapper), ulua (giant trevally), kahala (amberjack), along with pelagic species like mahi mahi and ono. These trips are available as private charters only.

Half-day, Inshore Fishing Charters
Action Sportfishing’s half-day private charter is a great option for families with kids aged 8 to 12, or for anyone who prefers to stay closer to shore. This trip focuses on bottom fishing, targeting a mix of reef species like snapper, papio, trevally, jacks, and more. While most of the catch will be under 3 pounds, there’s always the chance of hooking into something bigger. This experience is available exclusively as a private charter.
